Events & Training

Pool Swim Lessons

Our coached swim lessons take place on Tuesday evenings in Coral Leisure Centre, Arklow.

Members are divided up by ability. Our qualified and experienced coaches focus on technique, endurance and speed.

Lessons take place throughout the off season in preparation for open water swimming.

Casual Swim

Some members meet up on Friday mornings for a swim session. This is arranged on a week by week basis. Again, Coral Leisure Centre is the location.

Open Water Swimming

Once the temperatures rise, members take to the open water and meet up on Tuesday evenings. This usually takes place at The Cove in Arklow but occasionally we meet in various lake and river locations. Swim buoys are required on our club open water swims.

Club Cycles

Group cycling is a great way to improve bike handling skills, develop road confidence, and improve your endurance, while benefitting from the support that a group provides. TTC group cycles take place at weekends and start from The Square in Tinahely. The route is posted on our Band communications platform on the Friday and typically our cycles last 3-4 hours to include a coffee stop. Our cycles can focus on distance or endurance, and sometime a bit of each. With the 3 peaks on our doorstep, we frequently take on one……and sometimes all.

Club Turbos

During the off season we run club turbo sets via video calls with our cycling coach to help our members prepare for the open road. These sets focus on cadence, heart rate training and endurance. These weekly, sixty-minute sets are created by our experienced cycling coach who is also online to guide members and ensure there is progression from week to week.

During the summer, members can partake in club multi-sport days where we meet to practice bike, run and the all-important transition. These have been run at sprint distance.

Club Runs

Our club run (typically) commences at The Railway carpark and utilises the railway trail and Tomnafinnogue Woods, offering 10km at either end. During the summer we start the runs at 8:00 am and during the winter these drop back to a 9:00 start. We mix these runs up with trail runs during the off season and distances are varied depending on the events being trained for.
